SUPPORT A PIONEER WITH YOUR VOTE! The new position of Human Rights Representative must be made meaningful. While we all agree that human rights should be “guaranteed”, we all know that these rights can, and often have been, taken away. Human Rights exist only to the extent that they are struggled for, won and carefully maintained. Every member wants a workplace where they can make their living, free from harassment and discrimination based on race, religion, gender, creed, sexual orientation, disability, marital status or any other prohibited ground. As Human Rights Representative, I will be dedicated to our diverse membership and will strive to create a respectful workplace for all CAW4304 members. I have certified training regarding Bill 168 (Industrial Accident Prevention Association), a Certificate in Conflict Management and Mediation (in progress, Conrad Grebel College, University of Waterloo), and have participated in Human Rights Tribunal proceedings as part of my ongoing mentorship in women’s advocacy. “All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights.” |
