The 2009 Collective Agreement was ratified by our union on March 1st and the Region on March 3rd.
Current 2009 Contract
HIGHLIGHTS OF SETTLEMENT

- The terms of our contract are from January 1, 2009 to December 31, 2010.
- Stat days are now referred to as ‘specified holidays’. We have 12 specified holidays, 10 of which we are entitled to a lieu day which now includes the August Civic Holiday.
- Our number of available lieu days during the week has increased in the North from 4 to 5 and in the South from 2 to 3 for Fall, Winter and Spring.
- New clause added to address scheduling issues for Mobility Plus and Conventional.
- Retirees will not be included in the 20% limit of part time workers in order to give the Region incentive to hire them. Part time employees can only be utilized when a regular full time operator is not available for their shift. Part time employees now receive travel time and lunch.
- Vacation entitlement of 6 weeks has decreased from 24 years of service to 23 years of service starting in 2010.
- Voluntary Assignments, Charters, Specified Holidays (including Christmas), Emergency help and Oktoberfest overtime will be part of accumulated overtime hours. These will be handed out according to normal overtime procedures.
- Conventional Shift premium has increased by .15 cents.
- Safety shoe reimbursement for Mobility Plus has increased by $5.00.
- D2 Employees can now leave notice of absence with the Clerk and Service Advisors will receive formal training for their position. Vacation and Specified Holidays will be posted for Service Advisors.
- Dept. 2 employees will receive a .15 cent shift premium increase on the 3:00 to 11:00 pm shift and a .10 cent increase on the 11:00pm to 7:00am shift.
- Safety foot wear reimbursement for D2 has increased by $5.00.
- Tool allowance has increased by $20.00
- Florescent yellow-green Hydro Parkas and Insulated Parka’s for D2 have been added as a colour option for 2010.
- A new title ‘Specialty Classifications’ has been added and Tire Service/Repair and Upholstery Workers received a .75 cent increase.
- Service attendants will receive $2.00/hr extra for orienting new employees.
- Acting assistant supervisors will now be referred to as ‘Temporary Supervisors’. Any vacancy created by assigning a temporary supervisor must be covered by overtime. The two year limit for this position has been removed. Temporary Supervisors will receive training for their postition.
- Effective April 2009 we will be covered for up to $2000.00 per year for crowns and/or caps at 50% reimbursement. Any operator retiring early in 2009 will now receive current benefit coverage.
