Community Shaken by Announcement of John Deere Closure Workers at the John Deere plant in Welland were shocked today by the terrible news that their plant would be closing next year, with production moving to the U.S. and Mexico. All workers in the facility learned the news at a 2:30 meeting this afternoon.

CAW Convention Delegates Elect Ken Lewenza New National President Delegates representing CAW members from across Canada elected Ken Lewenza today as the new national president to lead the country's largest private sector union.

Lewenza, former CAW Local 444 president and former CAW Council president, replaces Buzz Hargrove, who after 16 years as CAW president gave his final speech this morning.
